Mr. Dhawan has more than 12 years of professional experience in the construction industry, specializing in advising on construction claims, project and construction management, scheduling, and contract administration on complex building and infrastructure projects. Mr. Dhawan regularly uses his expertise to advise leading international law firms, contractors, owners, and other stakeholders involved in major construction projects.
Varun Dhawan has more than 12 years of construction industry experience covering the entire project lifecycle from estimating and proposals to client handover, covering design development, permitting, procurement, subcontractor management, planning, execution, commissioning, and training.
He has successfully managed projects ranging from $5 million to over $1 billion using various project delivery models, including Public Private Partnerships (Design, Build & Finance), Construction Management, Cost Plus, and Lump Sum. His attention to detail and expertise in forensic analysis and dispute resolution enable him to simplify complex schedule analyses, critical path evaluations, causation, and data analysis, resulting in clear, concise, and accurate reports.
His experience spans numerous complex projects, including Healthcare, Courthouses, Light Rail Transit, Airports, Industrial Manufacturing, and Processing Plants. He has experience in arbitration and mediation, including international arbitration cases.
Mr. Dhawan collaborates with leading international law firms, contractors, owners, consultants, architects, and other stakeholders involved in major construction projects. His experience spans several countries and regions, including Canada, US, Europe, and the Middle East.
Before joining Secretariat, Mr. Dhawan was a Project Manager for a leading Canadian General Contractor. He worked on a major remote infrastructure project in Sub-Arctic Canada, the project included key ESG components tailored to meet the cultural needs of Indigenous communities.
