Mr. Maharaj regularly supports named Quantum Experts in mediation, adjudication, international arbitration, and litigation proceedings. Recently he was also appointed as the quantum expert on an Adjudication in the UK. He has worked on disputes in the UK, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. He has carried out assessments of disputed costs, productivity / inefficiency, prolongation, variations, and final account evaluation and other damages impacts on oil & gas (offshore and onshore), highway, residential, aviation, rail, infrastructure, waste to energy, and school projects. The quantum of these disputes ranged from £0.5 million to over £1 billion.
He has also supported named delay and construction management experts to opine on the causes of delay and inadequate construction management practices.
Mr. Maharaj’s quantity surveying industry experience was gained at professional practices in South Africa, Dubai, and the UK, where he provided cost, procurement and contract advice on rail, commercial property, hotel, industrial, retail, and residential projects. He also completed an extended secondment to the UK’s high–speed rail project and prepared the preliminary indirect cost estimate, and advised on efficiencies in procurement and cost savings.
Mr. Maharaj also worked in the forensic accounting department of a multinational professional services firm.
