Majed Karam specializes in the assessment of construction delay, disruption, and associated cost escalation. He is a Professional Engineer with experience working on a wide range of projects, supporting clients with strategic advice and resolution of disputes in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
Mr. Karam is experienced in the delay, disruption, and quantum analyses of construction projects. He has acted as lead assistant on expert mandates for projects across the globe, particularly in Canada.
His experience spans greenfield and brownfield projects in the following sectors: residential, commercial (including mixed-use), institutional (healthcare, education, sports complex, museum), mining, industrial (water treatment, mail processing), and transportation (highway, bridge, tunnel, airport, marine). The disputed monies ranged from less than $1M, to more than $4B. He routinely conducts delay analysis, quantum analysis, evidence management, and claims evaluation for contractors, owners, trades, and insurers.
Prior to joining Secretariat, Mr. Karam was a delay and quantum analyst at an expert services firm, and previously a concrete materials engineer. His work in this role included concrete specifications, mix design, precast production, concrete curing, and service-life assessment. Mr. Karam has published his work on concrete materials in various media, holds awards from the American Concrete Institute, and is an elected emerging professional of ASTM International.
