Dr. Sangjoon “Jay” Sohn, PhD, PE is an expert in applied mechanics and stress analysis with a focus on the use of finite element method and other engineering analysis methodologies in investigating the cause of failure. His work focuses on understanding how engineering stress affects the structure resulting in fracture, fatigue, and many other modes of failure. With a multidisciplinary academic and industrial background, Dr. Sohn also commands a strong understanding and hands-on experience in the use of metallurgy in determining the root cause of a failure of mechanical components and engineering structures.
Dr. Sohn has been actively involved in international projects and has successfully developed business in the Asia-Pacific region with the focus in South Korea as a hub. He has been both a technical contributor and a project manager in large-scale cross-border disputes.
Before joining Secretariat, Dr. Sohn was a Senior Consultant in the Mechanics Practice Group and the Asia-Pacific Market Lead with Engineering Systems, Inc (ESi). He gained and demonstrated his technical expertise in the oil and gas industry with leading manufacturers and engineering firms in his earlier career.
