Dr. Arunachalam is an expert in liability analysis and estimation of damages, primarily in the area of antitrust (monopolization and price-fixing/collusion) and intellectual property. Dr. Arunachalam also has extensive experience working on behalf of government agencies and parties in the analysis of competitive effects of both horizontal and vertical mergers.
Dr. Arunachalam has worked on high-profile antitrust cases (e.g., United States v. Google, In re American Express Anti-Steering Rules Antitrust Litigation, United States v. AT&T-Time Warner, and Aon PLC’s proposed acquisition of Willis Towers Watson PLC), as well as a diverse range of smaller engagements. His work has spanned a number of industries, including online search, cable television, corporate insurance broking, chemicals, natural gas trading, generic drugs, software-as-a-service, medical devices, distant-signal television royalties, music royalties, credit cards, structured financial products, and online gaming.
Before his work in economic consulting, Dr. Arunachalam was Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan, where he taught PhD and undergraduate courses in economics. He has also taught undergraduate courses in economics, political economy, and history at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of San Francisco.
