Laura Valera applies her expertise, vision, and leadership capabilities in business operations to drive efficiency and ensure the team has the resources and tools to succeed. She is responsible for the business operations of Secretariat. She applies her deep industry knowledge to continuous improvement in all areas of functions, including staffing allocation, talent development, human resources, vendor management, information technology, and office management.
Ms. Valera collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans to streamline the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization.

Before joining Secretariat, Ms. Valera was a vice president at Intensity. She has also worked as a consultant, implementing dynamic forecast modeling, data mining methods, and statistical analysis on litigation and business optimization frameworks in various cases.
Ms. Valera co-authored the article “Automated classification of atherosclerotic plaque from ex vivo MR images using predictive models,” regarding an NIH-founded research project where artificial neural network modeling was performed to predict tissue types on MRI coronary artery specimens.
