Mr. Ihnow is a damages and forensic accounting expert with over 20 years of dispute advisory experience focused on intellectual property litigation and ability to pay analysis.
Mr. Ihnow has performed damages analyses, including reasonable royalty and lost profits, in numerous patent infringement matters in the following industries: heavy machinery, financial services, consumer products, building products, semiconductors, consumer electronics, medical devices, software, automotive, video streaming, and high-tech equipment. Analyses include valuing patented features through complex financial and cost analysis, assessing economic comparability of license agreements in establishing a reasonable royalty rate, conducting market research to determine competitive landscape and posture of parties, considering economic effects of alternative technologies, and performing deep docket research. Throughout his years of dispute advisory, Mr. Ihnow has demonstrated a propensity for finding creative, elegant solutions to complex problems.
Mr. Ihnow also has extensive experience evaluating a company’s ability to pay a criminal fine for antitrust, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations. He has presented to the U.S. Department of Justice and UK Serious Fraud Office on behalf of companies and governmental authorities in such matters. Mr. Ihnow contributed to the article Criminal Antitrust Fines and Penalties: Reductions Based on Ability to Pay published in the ABA’s Spring 2017 issue of Antitrust.
Mr. Ihnow was honored in the 2016 AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Standing Ovation Recognition program, which recognizes professionals who are 40 or under, hold the CFF and/or ABV credential, and have exhibited exemplary professional achievement.
