Secretariat Announces 2025 Mid-Year Promotions
Secretariat is thrilled to celebrate the mid-year promotion of 21 individuals across 11 global offices.
Gareth McDermott specialises in the assessment of complex claims, of varying size and complexity, involving valuation and measurement, delay, disruption, acceleration, variations, defective works, and termination claims. He has worked in a variety of sectors including building (hotels and five-star resorts, hospitals, schools and university campuses, shopping malls and residential developments), civil engineering and infrastructure projects (highways, airports and tunnelling), offshore oil & gas facilities, marine, energy, and process works.
Gareth has almost 20 years of experience on major international construction, engineering, and energy projects worldwide, including in Ireland, the United Kingdom, mainland Europe, South America, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and Africa.
Mr. McDermott commenced his career working with contractors across the project life cycle including procurement, contract administration, interim payments and valuations, preparation and defense of contractual claims, final account preparation, negotiation, and agreement.
Mr. McDermott is regularly appointed as a quantum expert on domestic and international construction, engineering, and energy disputes. He has been instructed as quantum expert through all stages of litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and mediation matters.
