Carlos Vara has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry specializing in dispute resolution services. His construction consulting experience is diversified and includes airports, commercial and residential, energy and power, oil & gas, and light rail projects.
Throughout his career, Mr. Vara has performed complex delay analysis for a myriad of different projects assisting clients at various project stages: claims and change orders during construction, mediation and during arbitration or trial proceedings. His expertise also includes evaluating cost damages claims involving direct and indirect cost overruns, productivity, and disruption issues. Mr. Vara’s roles in arbitration disputes have included preparing major sections of expert reports, rebuttal reports, and support to counsel during arbitration hearings. Mr. Vara has also provided advisory services related to project controls, scheduling, and construction management for ongoing construction projects.
Before becoming a consultant, Mr. Vara was a project engineer with some of the largest general contractors in South America and lived on-site during the construction of large power and mining infrastructure projects, where he obtained field experience and held increasing responsibilities in the areas of project controls, field engineering, and contract administration.
