
Dr. Björn Brand is a Director with Secretariat and based in Munich. His primary areas of concentration are expert opinions on damages in international and commercial arbitration (including ICSID, ICC, HKIAC, and DIS) as well as litigation. In addition, he provides advice to clients in out-of-court settlements.
In detail, Dr. Brand has led engagements as project leader or expert assessing purchase price adjustments and/or lost profits resulting from contract breaches, construction delays, or expropriations. He also has worked on projects with a focus on financial, economic, forensic, and accounting-related analyses in the context of valuations, financial/economic modelling, and transactions. Dr. Brand has worked for clients from various industries.
Dr. Brand has nearly 10 years of consulting experience and prior to joining Secretariat, he held positions at Alvarez & Marsal and two Big4 firms.
Dr. Brand holds a PhD in economics with a focus on Industrial Organization from the University of Graz. Further, he completed the “Doctoral Program in Accounting, Reporting, and Taxation”, a joint program from the University of Vienna, the Vienna University of Economics and the University of Graz. Furthermore, Dr. Brand holds a diploma in Economics and Statistics as well as a diploma in Business Administration, both from the University of Innsbruck. In addition, he has completed the CFA program and is a CFA charter holder.
