Ricky Yau is an Associate Director with Secretariat based in Hong Kong. Mr. Yau is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in procurement strategy, contract administration, and quantum expert support. His experience spans a variety of building and engineering projects, including commercial, residential, civil, hotel, and oil & gas development.
Starting his career in a consultant firm, Mr. Yau focused in providing quantity surveying services at pre and post contract stages for projects in Hong Kong and Mainland China. In recent years, he has been focusing on providing quantum support to the quantum expert in construction disputes.
Mr. Yau has worked across multiple forms of contracts and provided contractual advice and trainings on NEC to government bodies, contractors and overseas clients, and was involved in the development of NEC Practice Notes for the Hong Kong Development Bureau.
Mr. Yau obtained a dual qualification in quantity surveying and law. He became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) in the first few years of his career. To develop himself further in the dispute resolution industry, he obtained a law degree and a post graduate diploma in arbitration and mediation. He is now an accredited mediator included in the panel of Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL) Accredited General Mediators.
